The 'Pomology & Viticulture' section has competence on temperate fruit crops and grapevine. Focus is mainly in kiwifruit (Actinidia), of which the Department holds the largest germplasm repository in Europe, grapevine (Vitis), and to a lesser extent apple (Malus), peach (Persica), and cherry (Prunus). Key research activities include: genetics and breeding, plant physiology and metabolism.
